Government, Mr. Obama argued, cannot solve all of the country’s problems. But he said it has basic responsibilities to do what individual Americans cannot do themselves — “protect us from harm and provide every child a decent education; keep our water clean and our toys safe; invest in new schools and new roads and new science and technology. How can his be done with his proposed cut in tax revenue? Must be a dream,

On looking at the overview of the Invesco Mile High stadium at Denver Colorado, the position of the two teleprompters are surely obvious. They will be closely followed by the star speaker of the evening, Barack Obama, as did the three previous speakers, Michelle, Hillary and Billy. As with all politicians their words are written by others and read by the speaker from the teleprompters.
Barack will will put on a fabulous Hollywood rock star type performance expected to bring down the house with all hype and no substance. Watch the eyes, rather than looking straight ahead they look from one side then to the other where the teleprompters are located. People will naturally be convinced that he will be speaking from his heart rather than reading scripted words.

When Barack Obama became the presumptive Democrat nominee, I was faced with a difficult question: Could I support a candidate who gives good speeches but has no substance and little experience? No. I report, U decide.

"[Barack] Obama represents the merger of two of the worst aspects of Democratic politics-'60s radicalism and corrupt Chicago machine politics. With the addition of Slow Joe Biden to the ticket, Obama has added to his unsteady candidacy an epic amount of Beltway cluelessness and arrogance unsupported by anything except frequent flier miles and Delaware's love for a chuckle-headed fellow with a big smile... I was worried that the Dems had pointed out to Obama that his serial gaffing had brought the campaign close to a break point and that he needed Hillary. I was worried he'd actually go find Anthony Zinni or Sam Nunn or someone of accomplishment and purposefulness in foreign affairs. [Jim] Webb would have been hell on the stump. [Tim] Kaine or [Evan] Bayh would have put different states into play. [Kathleen] Sebelius was a wild card. But Biden?... Put Biden's obvious flaws aside and ask yourself how in the world Obama decided to go with Biden, and you'll quickly realize that the Democratic nominee must have been impressed with Biden on the long campaign trail of 2007 and 2008-even though voters weren't and even though Biden has no accomplishments of note after 36 years in the Senate. Biden talked a great game and dropped some very interesting place names-and this impressed Obama. Talking the talk has been the key to Obama's success, and in Slow Joe he found an older, far better traveled but equally prolix gas bag... For Obama, it is all about politics and words, elections and poses. Slow Joe is the perfect running mate on a perfect ticket for a party betting on wind to solve the energy crisis." -Hugh Hewitt

My subject is the Employee Free Choice act designed to remove the right of workers to decide whether or not to organize a union using a secret ballot. Headline in Union Advocate newspaper sez Al Franken will be proud to sponsor the Employee Free Choice Act when elected to the US senate.
I can speak from personal experience. When trying to organize a union in 1974 while working for Snyder Bros. Drugs we had a large majority of employees sign authorization cards to be followed by an election with secret ballot and it was voted down by the workers. All but one in my store signed cards I believe as a favor to me but with time to think and talk about it they changed their minds.
On visiting Mr. Franken’s office on University Ave I was told that the secret ballot would still be an option. Not true. To quote wording in the bill, “ The board shall not direct an election but shall certify the individual or labor organization as the representative.” Under the EFCA the employer would no longer have the opportunity to demand a secret ballot election when a majority of employees sign the union card,.
The act would take away a workers fundamental right to a secret ballot while voting to approve a union. This could lead to intimidation by union leaders of employees that do not want to be unionized.
It is natural for democrats to give unions 100 percent support to repay them for the fact that unions give more that 90 percent of their donations to the Democratic party. This can be seen at www.fec.gov. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you. I report, U decide . By alanrph2@msn.com.
