Ever since the beginning of the earth, global warming and ice ages have been going on and off. At first, it was just a wasteland, while the tectonic plates moved over a period of time, volcanoes began to form a spew heat, a.k.a. carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. As the heat built up, it eventually condensed so much, that it began, to rain. It rained, and rained, and rained for hundreds of thousands of years. It rained so much, that the deepest crevices in the earth's surface filled with water completely.

With all the greenhouse gases gone, only a fraction of the heat trapped in the thick layer of the gases actually stayed near the earth. The sudden cold quickly froze and plunged the entire world into an ice age. Over another long period, volcanoes again added gases to the earth's atmosphere. You can guess what happened...

Currently, we don't get huge rains, or entire world ice-ages, but we do get ice-ages. Ice-ages these past centuries have been very small and quite unnoticable. Global warming, unfortunately, is a bit of the opposite. Though global warming is very uncomfortable and irritating, it is in no way humans' fault. We produce about .25% of the greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere each year. That's not even one percent. Even if we did stop polluting altogether, (though there is no need to), global warming would not stop in any way, shape, or form. It wouldn't even slow down. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, we can do as humans will ever stop one of the most ancient cycles in the history of the universe.

The bulk of the liberal intellectual community automatically favors any expansion of government power so long as it is advertised as a way to protect individuals from big bad corporations, relieve poverty, protect the environment or promote "equality". Increasingly, each of these elements in present in most environmentalist rhetoric.

In the early 20th century environmentalists predicted global starvation due to drought and global cooling by the 1980s.

A good solution, such as nuclear and hydro-electric power, is opposed by environmentalists.

Another prediction made in 1969: "Hundreds of millions of people will perish in smog diasters in New York and Los Angeles, the oceans will die of DDT poisoning by 1979 and the US life expectancy will drop to 42 years due to cancer epidemics)

Headline! "MACHINISTS STATE COUNCIL ENDORSES FRANKEN." It is natural for Democrats to give labor total support to repay unions who give more than 90% of their money donations to the Democratic party. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. This can be seen at www.opensecrets.org/pacs/topacs.asp.

Lisa Stager, president of the state council, sez that Franken will proudly co-sponsor the Employee Free Choice Act recently passed by the house with support by virtually all Democrats and no Republicans.

The Employees Free Choice Act would take away a workers fundamental right to a secret ballot while voting to approve a union. This would lead to intimidation by union leaders of employees that do not want to be unionized. Having been on both sides, management and union member, I see that this change would be giving labor an unfair advantage over management. I report,U decide.

DFL Senate candidate Al Franken's recently-publicized tax troubles appear to be making an impression with Minnesotans, according to a new poll.

A poll conducted last week by SurveyUSA for television station KSTP found that 59 percent of adults in the state said they would be less likely to vote for Franken in light of his failure to pay more than $50,000 in income taxes to 17 states. Thirty-nine percent said it would make no difference or would make them more likely to vote for him. I report,U decide.

"My longer-term plan is to put an excess profits tax on the oil companies above a certain level of profit that would go in to help us make the transition." -Hillary Clinton

Jimmy Carter tried the excess profits tax and all it did was to nearly double the cost of gas at the pump. There ain't no magic.

In 2007 Exxon-Mobile earned a net profit of $40 billion dollars on sales of $360 billion. That's a net profit of 11.3% which is normal for any other business. They paid $29 billion in income taxes. Now Hillary wants to transfer the 18 cent per gallon tax at the pump to the evil oil companies. Any time a corporation pays any tax the cost is transfered to the consumer. That's us.
