For Personal Responsibility
Friday May 2, 2008
Sharia governs all aspects of life of Muslims as ruled by Islam, from relations between men and women to ethics in business and banking. Some aspects of sharia have become part of modern legal codes and are enforced by national judicial systems, while others are a matter of personal conscience. Entirely secular law is not an option under a classical interpretation of Islam, experts say. "In Islam, there is no separation between the secular and the sacred. The law is suffused with religion," says David Powers, a professor of Islamic law and history at Cornell University.

U.S. Job Losses Not as Deep as Feared
U.S. employers cut 20,000 jobs in April, far fewer than the 80,000-job loss that economists had forecast.

Many on Wall Street, the epicenter of the credit mess, seem to think that the worst is over. For the first time in months, analysts and executives sound upbeat again. Why did it take Senator Barack Obama 20 years, and a run for the presidency, to recognize the outrageous nature of his pastor’s speeches? Most Americans realized that from just one or two sentences. This, more than any of the other recent gaffes, seriously calls into question his judgment and ability to lead this nation. I report,U decide.

Instead of living in harmony with the rain forest we’re destroying the jungle in ways that contribute hugely to global warming.
Somewhere in the world, we humans cut down an area of jungle the size of a football field every second of every day, and deforestation now contributes as much to global warming as all the carbon emitted by the United States. By one calculation, four years of deforestation have the same carbon footprint as all flights in the history of aviation up until the year 2025. This has not even been mentioned by Algore. I report, U decide.
