For Personal Responsibility

In advance of the Pennsylvania primary, Obama displayed his disdain for middle America's faith and values at a closed-door San Francisco fundraiser: "You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest... it's not surprising they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
In other words, according to Obama, their faith is a byproduct of bitterness. While this sentiment might have been a hit with the chardonnay-sipping elite of Marin County, it hasn't played well in Peoria. Or in Pennsylvania, which holds its crucial presidential primary on 22 April. I report,U decide.

Liberalism is so impressed with its own brilliance that results apparently don't matter.
Liberals are always at their best chuckling at the ways of those they regard as hicks (Republicans). That's because liberals place far more importance on sophistication than on character, decency and values. I report, U decide.

An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy; because there is a limit beyond which no institution and no property can bear taxation.
The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is... legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay... If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.

DOKMO ll FINANCIAL STATEMENT To the Dokmo ll board and homeowners, At the present time, we at Dokmo ll are facing a serious financial problem. This is indicated by a study made by Dr. Russo of Construction Consulting & Inspections, Ltd. dated July of 2007 who prepared a capital replacement plan showing that our reserve funds will be depleted by the year 2022. Included in capital expenditures are roofs, siding, stoops, rails, decks, concrete, entry doors, patio doors, windows, mailboxes and asphalt and these are all paid from our reserve funds. All other expenses , considered operating expenses, are paid monthly and they are first to be paid with balance going to reserves.
The amount we budgeted to reserves during the year 2007, $7499 per month, is what we expect to remain after paying our monthly operating expenses. Over the past twelve months we have budgeted $89988 to reserves but have been able to contribute only $67491 over that period, for a short-fall of $22497. This happens when our monthly spending exceeds our operating budget and there is less left for reserves. Dr. Russo predicts this same short-fall in his reserve fund projections for the next twenty years.
Dr. Russo’s projections for the next 20 years did not include expenses for new siding to come sometime soon after the 20 year period. Siding will probably amount to some $750,000 in todays dollars and 1 million with inflation. This is something to consider when calculating our need for increased funding by raising monthly fees to homeowners, to cover the future costs and to maintain our reserve funds.
The Dokmo ll Articles of Incorporation limit the board to levy a maximum increase of dues to 5% yearly which does little more than cover inflation. Any increase beyond that requires approval by the homeowners. My recommendation and also the board members and Mr. Keller, to cover our future reserve expentidures, is to increase the monthly dues by $30.00 monthly to $156.00. At $156.00 we will still be somewhat below the average price paid other similar associations.
To further complicate matters, at the point of sale of our homes we are required to reveal any faults or problems with the home to a potential buyer. This is mandated by state law and if we fail to show a problem to the buyer we are in violation of the law and will pay a stiff financial fine. Our financial shortfall problem is shown to be obvious by Dr. Russo's study and can be solved only with an increase in monthly dues.
Any questions or comments? please call me at 651-407-7206. I take full responsibilityt for the content of this letter.
I report and U decide, Alan Anderson

"One of the biggest problems with government intervention in the economy is that politicians usually have neither the knowledge nor the incentives to intervene at the right time. Bruce Bartlett has pointed out that most government intervention in an economic downturn comes too late. That is, the problem it is trying to solve has already worked itself out and the government intervention can create new problems. More fundamentally, markets readjust themselves for a reason. That reason is that people pay a price for their misjudgments and mistakes. Government interventions are usually based on trying to stop them from having to pay that price. People who went way out on a limb to buy a house that they could not afford are now being pictured as victims of a heartless market or deceptive lenders. Just a few years ago, people who went out on that limb made money big-time in a skyrocketing housing market. But now that they have been caught in the ups and downs that markets have gone through for centuries, the government is supposed to bail them out. Solving short-run problems, especially in an election year, often means creating long-run problems. Pumping money into the economy can help many problems. But do not be surprised if it also leads to inflationary pressures and financial repercussions around the world." -Thomas Sowell
