Bush's decision to go to war was unilateral, but it did in fact have the support of most Americans and politicians, which surely egged him on. As they survey the results today they've all changed their tunes, a little or a lot , with various degrees of contrition (regret}.
Americans are unhappy with President Bush right now with an approval rating of 30% with congress at 23%. The public and politicians gave President Bush the green light to go to war and then condemn him when it turns out badly. Only 5% disapproved. Senate voted 77 of 100 in favor.
In 2004 the public showed their support for President Bush when they re-elected him to office with a 50%plus approval rating. Now the clever congress people are voting to pull out completely knowing that it will not happen. They would think differently if they knew it would happen and they could be held responsible.

....give a Swede a block of wood and he will carve a beautiful image, give a German a piece of iron and he will make a machine gun. Jack's heritage is half Swedish and half German.

"What's the lesson for America? What is it that's still in our power to control? The fate of America will be controlled right here on this continent. For as long as we protect our border and our sovereignty, while preserving our language and our culture, there will always be an America." The fall of the Roman Empire and the fate of America can be seen in juxtaposition with America possibly to follow. There are many similarities of which we should be mindful. As with any empire, the Roman Empire was always a multicultural construct and eventually, after losing their majority, came the downfall of the Roman Empire.
