For Personal Responsibility
Tuesday June 26, 2007
Comments made to Pioneer Press column by Norm Coleman regarding Employee Free Choice Act. This law is designed to ban use of secret ballot when voting to join a union. As it is now when a majority of workers sign card to authorize vote, then there is election by secret ballot. Norm had the good sense to voice opposition and following are comments made by real high class people who didn't like what he said.
"Once again Norm proves he's not a friend of working men and women"
"He outright lies...."
"You're a joke Norm...."
"The sooner we get rid of you as senator the better."
"Norm is a flip flop senator...."
"How can he be trusted/"
"Norm, why not tell the truth?"
Typically, as Democrats usually behave, they engage in personal attacks and completely ignore the issue at hand.

#1 Republicans favor personal responsibilty. Example: bill passed November 2005 titled Personal Responsibility In Food Consumption Act of 2005 by congress to prohibit law suits against McDonalds and others by obese people who need someone to blame for their condition and also to support a trial lawyer who collects most of the proceeds. Passed yeas: Republican 226 and Democrats 89. Noes: Republicans 0 and Democrats 114. Such bills related to tort reform are generally suported by Republicans and rejected by Democrats, almost by party line. The simple reaspon for this is that the Trial Lawyers Association of America donate 96% of their political donations to the Democratic party. You don't bite the hand that feeds you.
#2 Childish Behavior. Example: In 2002 during the political campaign for US senate there was a debate between Paul Wellstone and Norm Coleman at the state fair. Coleman was the first to speak and an unruly mob wearing green Wellstone shirts shouted so loud that Coleman was speechless. When Wellstone got up to speak we Coleman supporters had too much class to behave that way. This also happened at the Klobuchar and Kelly debate.
Another such incident was at Wellstone's memorial where his sons and 8,000 other Democrats made it a political rally and jeered Republicans who appeared.
#3 Stupid Behavior. During the 2004 campaign for president there were many bumper stickers, and as far as I could see they were all for Kerry and against Bush. Examples: BUSH IS A LIAR, BUSH IS STUPID, GET THAT SON OF A BUSH OUT OF OFFICE, DEFOLIATE BUSH, JESUS IS A DEMOCRAT, BUCK FUSH, YUCK BUSH, WHEN FASCISM COMES TO THIS COUNTRY IT WILL BE WRAPPED IN AN AMERICAN FLAG AND CARRYING A CROSS. I will have to admit that I saw one against Kerry, VIETNAM VETS OPPOSED TO KERRY, with no personal attacks. Them's a real bright bunch of people.
#4 If you don't like something just pass a law. The conservative way is to allow the market to prevail and to adjust to the problem. If not corrected, very carefully pass a law. Example: Minnesota Democrat wants to pass a law to ban trans-fats. As it is now the market has adjusted and you seldom see trans-fat on the label of food product, we don't need a law.

My favorite motto, whether I follow it or not. "With every right and privilege there is a corresponding duty and responsibility. This is the conservative way as opposed to the liberal way and ACLU who strongly support rights and never mention responsiblity.

Fatwas are issued by representatives of the highest religious authorities of Islam. First came the breast feeding fatwa. It declared thst the Islamic restriction on unmarried men and women being together could be lifted at work if the woman breast-fed her male colleagues five times to establish family ties. Then came the urine fatwa. It said that drinking the urine of Prophet Muhammad was deemed a blessing. To go even further another fatwa was issued saying that it was permissible for a woman to have reconstructive hymen surgery before marriage to conceal that they were no longer vergins.

" A proclamation is herein issued from GOD (Allah) and his messenger (Muhammad) to all the people on the great day of pilgrimage, that GOD has disowned the idol worshipers Jews, Protestants, Catholics etc) and so did his messenger (Muhammad). Thus, if you repent (join Islam), it would be better for you. But if you turn away, then know that you an never escape from GOD (Allah). Promse thoser that disbelieve (against Islam) a painful (behead) retribution". " Once the sacred months are past, and they refuse to make peace, you may kill the idol worshipers (Jews, Protestants, Catholics etc) when you encounter them, punish them (behead them) and resist every move they make."
Accoding to the above, it seems that all of Islam can be called radical. My only experience with Muslim was a fine young man from Somalia who was totally dedicated to Islam and I believe to the point that he would do anything Islam would order. It is hard to understand that we hve elected A Muslim, disciple of Minister Farakhan, Keith Ellison, to represent us in U.S. congress, Minnesota 5th district DFL. It makes me fearful.
