For Personal Responsibility

 BLAME MCDONALDS

Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act of 2005 H.R. 554.
Passed:
Republicans 226 Yae 0 Nay.
Democrats 89 Yae 114 Nay.
Bill to prevent lawsuits against McDonalds and others by obese people who need someone else to blame and to support a trial lawyer who collects most of the proceeds. Such bills relating to tort reform are generally supported by Republicans and rejected by Democrats, almost by party line. The simple reason for this is that the Trial Lawyers Association of America donate 95% of their PAC money to the democratic party. You don't bite the hand that feeds you.

 RIGHTS vs. RESPONSIBILITY

My favorite motto: "With every right and privilege there is a corresponding duty and responsibility." This is the conservative way as opposed to the ACLU.

 H.RES 1003

Resolution providing for earmarking reform in House of Representatives.
Republicans 218 Yea and 1 Nay
Democrats o Yea and 192 nay.
Those against should suggest an alternative as house reform is needed especially when house member hides $90,000 in home freezer.

 H.R. 6061 SECURE FENCE ACT

Secure Fence Act of 2006 intended to build fence and increase security at the borders. Bill passed by a large majority by Republicans. Republicans 216 Yes and 6 No. Democrats 64 Yes and 131 No. This should be the first step in immigration control, but those opposed are unable to suggest an alternative.

 WESTOVER SEZ.....

In reference to public vs. private education Craig Westover, Pioneer Press Columnist on Wednesdays, sez....Ideally "governmenrt would collect taxes for education, but education dollars would follow the student (vouchers or tax credits), not to be dedicated to any specific system of education. The market will prevail, unless government schools provide a service people want. If they do, why abolish them? If they don't, you won't have to."

Craig wrote this in response to message from Andrew Young of the economics department at the University of Mississippi.
