The Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 directed federal regulatory agencies to "encourage" banks and other lending institutions "to help meet the credit needs of the local communities in which they are chartered consistent with the safe and sound operation of such institutions."
That sounds pretty innocent and, in fact, it had little effect for more than a decade. However, its premise was that bureaucrats and politicians know where loans should go, better than people who are in the business of making loans.
The real potential of that premise became apparent in the 1990s, when the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) imposed a requirement that mortgage lenders demonstrate with hard data that they were meeting their responsibilities under the Community Reinvestment Act.

Minnesota Legislative Statute SF0564 sponsored by Rep. Mee Moua DFL district 67.
"Relating to elections; restoring civil rights to individuals convicted of felonies. expanding absentee voting to include certain correctional facility inmates; stating right to vote for persons convicted of felonies under certain conditions; providing for correctional facility discharge notice of right to vote requirement,"
The only reason I personally oppose this bill is that the DFL party will have the most to gain with getting a majority of votes cast by felons.
At the same time US congress Rep. Betty McCollum Dem. district four has sponsored a similar bill also knowing who has the most to gain.

As Milton Friedman noted, “Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon.” It is a situation in which too few goods are being chased by too much money.
To American families, inflation is a destroyer of savings, a killer of wealth, a crusher of confidence. It calls into question the value of our money. And while we all share in the pain, the people whom inflation hits hardest are elderly people who live on fixed incomes, those in the middle class who are struggling to save for retirement and college and lower-income people who live paycheck to paycheck.
Just watch as time passes. I report, U decide.

Women’s rights advocates say Iranian women are displaying a growing determination to achieve equal status in this Muslim theocracy, where male supremacy is still enscribed in the legal code. One in five marriages now end in divorce, according to government data, a fourfold increase in the past 15 years.
