 FROM AUDACITY OF HOPE

As said by Barack Obama:

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction"

From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'

From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers race.'

This is a result of heresay but I believe it to be true and accrit.

ROBERT DUNCAN OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

To the editor,

Column written by Jason Hoppins about an interview with Robert Duncan Head of the Republican National Committee regarding the Republican Convention in St. Paul. When asked about Howard Dean he replied in a very respectful way with the comment that " I think our backgrounds are different." He said nothig to discredit Howard Dean or the Democratic part. Dean takes every opportunity to condemn President Bush and The Republican party.

When asked about Norm Coleman Duncan sez " He doesn't always vote with the president or the party on things. He's independent in his thinking. He's creative in his way of looking at things." As I see it Al Franken is totally controlled by the labor unions as indicated by his support of the Employee Free Choice Act.

 BIG PROFITS FOR EXXON

To the liberals that say Exxon has excessive profits. Exxon's profit dollars are huge because they are a huge company with many millions of stockholders. Their percentage of profits is in line with other corporations. In the last 12 months their net profit was 10.4 percent. GE was 13.4 percent, CBS was 9.2 percent, Microsoft was 29.9 percent and there were many more where profit is better and many that are worse.

Increasing the taxes on the corporation will just increase gasoline prices. Put price controls on gasoline and you will have a repeat of the fiasco that occurred during the 1970's with block long lines to the gas stations because there a a shortage of gasoline available at the controlled prices.

Limit their profits and the shareholders would flee to other companies and you wouldn't hve to worry about Exxon charging anything at all. The federal and state governments collect more money for each gallln of gasoline than the company mkes in profit. Any time the government gets involved in the free market you can plan on a disaster.

At the time, 60 years ago, when I operated my own drug store I worked hard to acheive 10 percent net profit. With the onset of severe compettion my net profit dropped to 8 percent and that was enough to put me out of business. At this time Walmart earns a net of about 5 percent. I report, U decide.

HIGH TAXES KILL JOBS IN USA

"High tax rates are driving many businesses and jobs overseas — and, of course, our foreign competitors wouldn’t mind if we kept it that way,” Mr. McCain said, laying out his economic plan this month in Pittsburgh. “We’re going to get rid of that drag on growth and job creation." Any additional tax on a corporation is paid by the consumer. Regarding exports, the increase in price naturally will reduce the volume of our exports resulting in fewer jobs,
I report,U decide.

 THE GIPPER SEZ

W]e are currently in the midst of a re-ordering of the political realities that have shaped our time. We know today that the principles and values that lie at the heart of conservatism are shared by the majority. Despite what some in the press may say, we who are proud to call ourselves 'conservative' are not a minority of a minority party; we are part of the great majority of Americans of both major parties and of most of the independents as well." -Ronald Reagan
